Oncidium

Feed Oncidium : In autumn orchids don’t need to be fertilized too often; let’s act every 30-40 days, using a specific fertilizer.

continental : We suggest to position the the Oncidium in a partially shaded place, which is exposed to direct solar rays only a few hours a day.
These plants are cultivated in the apartment or in a temperate greenhouse, they can’t stand the cold; if the autumnal temperatures are quite mild we can leave them outside, but only when the minimum temperatures are above 15°C.

alpine : For a balanced development it is best to locate teh the Oncidium in a place where it can enjoy some hours of direct solar light, but protected from the sun for most of the day.
We advise cultivating these plants in a place with minimum night temperatures above 15°C; in autumn we suggest sheltering them inside the house.

mediterranean : Locate this plant in a partially shady place, directly lit by sunrays for a few hours a day.
We advise growing these plants in a sheltered place; when the autumnal temperatures go below 15°C it’s best to locate the the Oncidium in the apartment.

continental : Water regularly, every 1-2 weeks with 1-2 glasses of water, wetting the ground deeply, but waiting for the substratum to dry completely between an irrigation and another one; avoid stagnant water.

alpine : When the ground is thoroughly dry, we should water regularly but without exceeding, usually using 0-1 glasses of water. Keeping the dampness of the ground under control let’s water every 2-3 weeks.

mediterranean : The Oncidium doesn’t request too much watering; we should act with 2-3 glasses of water only when the soil is very dry, every 0-1 weeks, avoiding immoderation.

Adversity Oncidium : Usually it’s not necessary to use insecticides during autumn; occasionally we can treat our plants with an anticoccidiosis, if we notice the presence of cochineals on the inferior part of the leaves.
