Salvia elegans - Sage

Fertilization Salvia elegans : In autumn we should reduce fertilizing aromatic plants which are still in vegetation, giving it fertilizers every 30-40 days. Annual aromatic plants can be eradicated; to obtain a good quantity of aromatic herbs to be used during the winter we can let them desiccate or even freeze them.

continental : plant which needs to be exposed to direct sunrays.
During the autumn these plants can be left outdoors, but we suggest moving them to a place where they are sheltered from the frost as soon as the minimum temperatures go below zero.

alpine : Let's locate the the Salvia elegans in a very luminous place, preferably sunny.
In this period of the year we suggest paying attention to sudden freezing, since the the Salvia elegans can’t stand temperatures below zero; if the autumn climate is particularly harsh we suggest locating the plants in a sheltered place or in a cold greenhouse.

mediterranean : These plants favour sunny exposures, where they can enjoy, even for the whole day, some direct solar rays.
In this period of the year the Salvia elegans can be cultivated outdoors; it can’t always stand quick dropping temperatures, therefore we suggest locating it in a sheltered spot. They can’t stand frost.

continental : Let’s water every 1-2 weeks with 3-4 glasses of water, or even more often if the weather is hot and dry; we should always try to keep the ground slightly damp.

alpine : Water regularly, every 2-3 weeks, wetting the soil thoroughly by using 2-3 glasses of water and keeping it always a bit moist, although avoiding to soak it too much.

mediterranean : For a balanced development these plants need constant and abundant dampness; during this time of year it is good to water frequently, about 4-5 glasses of water at least every 0-1 weeks.
