Fertilization Sarracenia purpurea : Carnivorous plants don’t need to be fertilized, as they get the mineral salts needed directly from their preys; they dislike the presence of mineral salts in the soil, therefore we suggest irrigating them with demineralised water.

The Sarracenia purpurea is a quite delicate plant, which can’t stand the cold weather; when the autumnal temperatures go below 15°C let’s bring them inside the apartment.

alpine : Let's locate the the Sarracenia purpurea in a very luminous place, preferably sunny.
Let’s avoid exposing the Sarracenia purpurea to temperatures below 15°C; when the autumnal climate brings nocturnal minimum temperatures quite low let’s move our plants inside the apartment.

mediterranean : These plants favour sunny exposures, where they can enjoy, even for the whole day, some direct solar rays.
We advise growing these plants in a sheltered place; when the autumnal temperatures go below 15°C it’s best to locate the the Sarracenia purpurea in the apartment.

continental : We advise leaving the ground prevalently dry, watering from time to time, every 1-2 weeks; if there are intense rains and the weather is quite cold we can reduce the watering even more. Usually 2-3 glasses of water are used.

alpine : We suggest watering rarely, such as every 2-3 weeks with 1-2 glasses of water, but only when the weather is mild, and the substratum has been dry for days.

mediterranean : During this time of year we suggest watering only once in a while using 3-4 glasses of water, leaving the soil dry for a few days before watering it again. If the weather is cold irrigate rarely. Between one watering and the other 0-1 weeks should go by.

Treatments Sarracenia purpurea : These plants usually don’t need treatments against parasites; it might be advisable to treat the soil with a fungicide against radical putrefaction when we repot small plants.
